Description
HIPPO’S signature round ‘Jocelyn’ ring, originally designed by Jocelyn Playfair – my father’s mother, comes in many sizes and we added a variety of shapes. Made from a single piece of wood. Grandma was a strong, independent, witty woman who adored a feisty discussion, wore her hair short, tailored her own clothes, bicycled around London in trousers (when it really wasn’t done), and married a Major-General. She wrote novels (and was published) and was passionate about carpentry. She also made the best ever bread-and-butter pudding. I’m sure it was full of alcohol.
Extraordinary friend, carpenter and joiner ‘M’, will make your ring(s). Bespoke for you, available in Mahogany, Wenge, Olive Wood, Ash and more. See individual photos, and contact Miranda to place an order swiftly and easily. They look great on men, women, and my new favourite is a thumb ring..Ooo. Your general finger size is needed (you can measure your ring finger with a sewing tape measure). The square of finest sandpaper (for those of you in the know; 320 grit) we send you, will take care of small sizing adjustments and keep the rings silky soft. I wear the enormous ones, but smaller rings stacked up look wonderful too. I always think large rings look good even on smaller hands, if they suit the skin tone and the circumference well. The wood changes, may crack a little which adds to its character and journey with you, and can be oiled or left chalky. Sand them occasionally to refresh them or let them ripen. The sensual pleasure of wood is unparalleled.
I find myself wearing these rings every day, and removing them only to wash my hands, before wearing winter or work gloves, and before playing the violin..Light and easy to post.
